GALILEO AWAYDAY 2006

Galileo Pakistan Team recently had their Away Day 2006. This year all Galileans got together again for an electrifying two days and two nights at Faisalabad Serena Hotel for Awayday 2006 of Galileo Pakistan. The hotel is a monument of our culture and an exquisite place to stay.
An 'Awayday' was formerly the name given to a fun day. however, regularly applied in a business context to a meeting, often of a whole department or project team, which takes place off-site and away from the participant’s regular office routine matters, usually for two or three days.
The theme of awayday was on “Full Steam Ahead” in Serena Faisalabad. This is Galileo Pakistan annual event and every year the theme selects according to the current challenging situations. It was a combination of fun and learning where their management consultants, Navitus Pvt. Ltd., facilitated the entire session. Awaydays followed the same format, based around team building games and experiential exercises which people enjoyed.
More than seventy people attended the event this year which not only included the staff members of Galileo Pakistan but the NDC Manager, Galileo Pakistan Mr. Shaheen Ramzan Ali, CEO Galileo Pakistan Mr. Ali Naqi Taqi, Chairman Mr. Mustapha A. Chinoy and team of Galileo Emirates which included Mr. Ameen Malik, Business Development Manager, Galileo Emirates and Ms. Nusrat Ahmed, Business Development Controller, Galileo Emirates.
There were exercises, simulations, business analysis & discussions, movie and lots of other things. Since there have been a number of new people who have been taken on board, it was a useful opportunity to break down barriers, clarify perceptions and choose to accelerate full steam ahead. The 70 people in the room were truly enthused by the growth plans of Galileo Pakistan and have chosen to give customers an experience unmatchable by others in the industry. It is the desire that due to tremendous team performance, the market will always ‘remember the Galileans!.
At the end, awards were given to a number of people recognized for individual achievements that helped team performance in 2005. The NDC Manager Mr Shaheen Ramzan Ali was hopeful and feels that team is now ready to accelerate and grow very fast.
The Awayday ended by discussing the ground rules drafted as task in 2 days. Several key issues were identified and some actions agreed, with individuals. In a relaxed and creative atmosphere, team members were encouraged to respond to their senior manager's year-end report and challenges for the next year ahead. Small mixed teams were facilitated and guided through the scenario planning process to outline possible future challenges and opportunities for the organization..
